Harvard Republican Club Refuses to Endorse Donald Trump

Written by Tazeen Hasan
Harvard Republican Club, the United States oldest College Republican chapter  belonging to Harvard University has refused to endorse the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump stating he, "simply does not possess the temperament and character necessary to lead the United States." This is for the first time in 128 years that Harvard Republicans chapter will not be endorsing the Republican nominee.
In an official statement, the club declared that Trump's racist slander, misogynistic rhetoric as well as repeated mocking of the disabled and belittling of the fallen veteran families is not consistent with Harvard's conservative principals. The statement points out the  derogatory words Trump uses for anyone who disagrees with him even in his own party i.e stupid, lying, fat, ugly, weak, failing, and idiot. The statement went so far to consider Trump a threat to the survival of the United States.

The conservative Republicans at Harvard reject Trump's fascist tendencies, politics of fear and division in a vivid expression,  "He [Trump] hopes to divide us by race, by class, and by religion, instilling enough fear and anxiety to propel himself to the White House. He is looking to pit neighbor against neighbor, friend against friend, American against American. We will not stand for this vitriolic rhetoric that is poisoning our country and our children."

It is worth noting that a recent poll show nearly 87 percent of graduating seniors at Harvard are either registered democrats or, at the very least, left-leaning.
The club is also concerned about the lack of any serious economic agenda and his meandering  statements  on critical issues. "Domestically, his protectionist trade policies and draconian immigration restrictions would enlarge our federal deficit, raise prices for consumers, and throw our economy back into recession."
Conservative Republicans at Harvard have also expressed apprehensions about the Trumps flippant stance regarding foreign policy: call for withdrawal from NATO,  endorsement of nuclear proliferation and abdication of responsibility to lead the world.

The statement went so far to consider Trump a threat to the survival of the United States.
It is worth noting that a May poll by The Crimson, a Harvard University Student organ show nearly 87 percent of graduating seniors at Harvard are either registered democrats and merely 04 percent are trump supporters.  The tides are leaning more against Trump inside the Republican club as a poll carried out by club indicates that only ten percent of the Republican club member said they would support Trump, while 80 percent said they would not, another 10 percent were undecided.
